We are a uniform school with royal blue polo shirts and khaki pants. Polos and khaki pants, shorts, and jumpers are available for purchase through French Toast.

Once students are registered, they will receive a $150 voucher to purchase a week’s worth of uniforms. Shoes, socks, and backpacks are not uniform specific, but we suggest velcro or slip-on style shoes for younger students.

The required school day is from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, from September through June.

Strive also offers optional programming beyond the required school day, including Strive Sunrise before school from 7:00–9:00 a.m., Strive Beyond after school from 4:30–7:00 p.m., Strive Explorers on Saturdays and Sundays, and full-day summer programming.

Yes. Weekday busing during the school year is available for eligible Strive students who live in the Bronx and more than 0.5 miles from the school.

Busing is not available on weekends or during the summer. Eligible students will receive pickup and drop-off information based on their location.

Yes. Strive provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner at no cost to families.

Meals will be fresh and nutritious and will accommodate dietary needs when possible, including halal, vegetarian, and allergy-sensitive options. Students may also bring their own meals or snacks.

In our first year, Strive will serve students in Kindergarten through 4th grade. We plan to add 5th grade the following year.

Strive also offers an Early Kindergarten Program for children beginning kindergarten at age 4.

No. Strive does not require pre-screening exams or placement assessments for admission.

At the beginning of the school year, we will use informal assessments to understand each student’s reading level and learning needs so we can support them appropriately.

Class sizes will generally be 22 to 25 students, with two teachers in every classroom.

You will receive an email with a link to the parent portal, where you can upload the required enrollment forms and confirm your child’s seat.

Yes. Strive will support students with IEPs, including speech, occupational therapy, counseling, and ICT classrooms.

Some highly restrictive settings, such as 12:1:1 or 6:1:1 classrooms, may not be available at this time. Families should contact us so we can review each child’s needs individually.

Strive combines strong academic foundations with active, hands-on learning across the school day.

For literacy, Strive uses Success for All , helping students build strong foundational reading skills while developing comprehension, writing, and a love of books as they grow.

For mathematics, Strive uses Contexts for Learning Mathematics, which develops computational fluency alongside conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning.

Science is built around hands-on inquiry. Students investigate questions, experiment, observe, discuss evidence, build, test ideas, and learn through real-world exploration.

Strive will offer a strong music and singing program where students learn through songs and instruments.

Students will also have daily physical education, including sports, movement, and active outdoor play led by coaching staff.

Strive offers free optional programming for enrolled students throughout the week, on weekends, and during the summer.

Strive Sunrise runs Monday through Friday from 7:00–9:00 a.m. before instruction begins. Strive Beyond runs Monday through Friday from 4:30–7:00 p.m.

Strive Explorers runs Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., and Strive also offers free full-day summer programming from 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.

No. All extended programming is optional and is available only to Strive students.

Families can choose the programs and hours that work for them. Students are not required to participate in extended programming.

No. Strive Explorers and our other extended hours are designed to give families additional flexibility.

Families can choose when to use optional programming based on their needs. Students do not need to attend every weekend or remain for the entire 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. program day.
