Students learning at Strive Charter School in the South Bronx

OUR SCHOOL

About Strive Charter School

Strive Charter School is an elementary school opening in the South Bronx in 2026. Our mission is to provide students with an excellent academic education while supporting working families through extended school hours.

We combine strong literacy instruction, collaborative learning, and independent exploration with a schedule designed to meet the realities of modern work and family life.

The Strive Model

Built around real schedules. Not ideal ones.

Here’s how our schedule works:

  • Required school hours: 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM (weekdays)
  • Optional extended hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Available 7 days a week, year-round

HOW WE TEACH

Learning that sticks. Skills that last.

Literacy First

Evidence-based phonics instruction ensures every child becomes a confident reader.

Collaborative Learning

Students work together to solve problems and explore new ideas.

Independent Exploration

Reading, projects, and play help students develop curiosity and intrinsic motivation.

We built Strive for the parent who’s working until 6pm and doesn’t have somewhere safe for their kid to be. That parent shouldn’t have to choose between their job and their child.

WHY WE EXIST

A School Designed for Families

Most schools close at 3pm. Most families don’t get off work until 5 or 6. Strive was built to close that gap — giving children a place to learn, grow, and explore while giving families the flexibility they actually need.

OUR TEAM

Meet the people building Strive.

Strive is being built by a founding team with deep experience in education, community development, and school leadership. We’re hiring passionate educators who believe every child deserves more.
